There’s a joyful, unfussy energy to Naina Redhu’s work, built on a simple principle: dive in head-first, have fun and let the outcome take care of itself. A photographer, independent publisher and artist, she thrives on capturing people and their stories, from the runway to the guests and bold street style around a show.

Now based on Kaurna Country in Adelaide, Naina was born and raised in India, where her curiosity began with her father’s analogue Fuji camera, carried on his Indian Army deployments. From photographing her neighbourhood, she went on to launch naina.co, one of India’s first luxury and lifestyle blogs, working with brands including Hermès, Google and Cartier.

Colour is her inheritance, bringing vibrancy to her photography and wearable art brooches, crafted with hand-folded or hand-applied acrylic paint and acquired for the Art Gallery of South Australia gallery shop. Her creative practice also extends to The Naina Experience Podcast. Behind it all are the lessons of her parents, who taught her to be fearless, do her best and leave the rest.

Lately, that curiosity has turned to her new city. Her EyesForAdelaide Photo Walks invite people to see Adelaide and its surrounds differently – an experience she says has been game-changing for her too. With fresh eyes on her adopted home, she hopes to help shape a more diverse and vibrant local design and fashion scene.

Dare we dream

“I’d love to see Australian media celebrate the design and creativity being made right here - and creatives paid properly for their work, not asked to give images away. My dream is to drive across Australia, photographing, writing and talking about the people and places that make this country what it is.”
