In an industry where freelancing can often be fleeting, Pauline Morrissey has spent more than a decade building a creative career with remarkable staying power. Trusted by some of Australia’s leading publications, her work is recognised for its balance of editorial sharpness, visual instinct and emotional insight – not bad for a first-generation Filipino immigrant who learned English at seven years old.

At the heart of her practice is a curiosity for people and place, guided by an instinctive Filipino work ethic and the grit of a migrant’s eldest daughter. Today, she remains one of Domain’s long-standing columnists, leading multiple weekly columns across the brand’s print magazines, published nationally through The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and Australian Financial Review.

Alongside her editorial work, Pauline has built a multidisciplinary practice spanning copywriting, photography and creative direction across the lifestyle, travel, property and design space. Her work has also appeared across Australian Traveller, Time Out, Tourism Tasmania, The Design Files and more.

MADE IN KIN marks Pauline’s most personal work to date. Founded on an undeniable observation of her industry – that many creatives of colour from diasporic communities across Australia rarely receive the opportunities or visibility afforded to others. And thus, the platform is committed to building a creative ecosystem where heritage is recognised not as a limitation, but as an irreplicable creative power.

Craft and practice

  • Editorial storytelling and feature writing

  • Creative direction and campaign concepts

  • Copywriting across lifestyle, travel and design

  • Photography and visual world-building

Dare we dream

“I want MADE IN KIN to grow into a thriving community of creatives and cultural storytellers – commissioned by leading brands and published across major platforms. The goal is a clear shift in perspective, where brands and publishers feel fortunate to platform our stories and feature our work, rather than us constantly needing to justify our relevance. On a personal level, I hope to one day publish a book of essays and photography exploring my Filipino heritage.”
