Arriving in Australia from the Philippines at seven years old, Pauline Morrissey carried memories of her grandparents’ humble home in Bulihan – a house once overflowing with family, tricycles humming outside and mangoes dropping onto the tin roof. Though that home no longer stands, it continues to shape how she sees the world and the stories she is determined to tell.

Today, she is an established writer with more than a decade of editorial experience and bylines across Australia’s major publications. She runs multiple columns for Domain’s lift-out magazines in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Australian Financial Review. Her storytelling, imagery and home have also appeared in Australian Traveller, Time Out, The Design Files and more.

At the heart of her practice is a deep curiosity for people and place, guided by an instinctive Filipino work ethic and the grit of a migrant’s eldest daughter – disciplined, generous and unwavering. She is known for approaching each project with care, momentum and an unshakeable respect for deadlines. Within her wider family, she is often the steady presence, the reliable go-to and the quiet matriarch – traits that mirror the resolve she brings to her work.

Pauline founded MADE IN KIN to champion people of colour in Australia. The platform is her commitment to telling stories with greater nuance and depth, and to building a creative ecosystem where culture and community are held as strength, not burden.

Craft and practice

  • Writing and storytelling across editorial features and brand narratives

  • Content creation including photography, social campaigns, and multimedia storytelling

  • End-to-end creative project management, from concept development to campaign delivery

  • Styling for interiors, lifestyle shoots and brand visuals

Dare we dream

“I want MADE IN KIN to grow into a strong community of creatives and cultural storytellers – one that is commissioned by leading brands and published across major platforms. The aim is a clear shift in perspective, where brands and publishers feel fortunate to tell our stories and feature our work, rather than us having to seek relevance or acceptance. On a personal level, I hope to one day publish a book of essays and photography exploring my Filipino culture and heritage.”
