Origin

MADE IN KIN was founded by Filipina-Australian writer and content creator Pauline Morrissey, who has spent more than a decade shaping stories for national Australian publications.

After years of documenting homes, people and creative work across the country, she recognised how rarely POC voices were centred. This platform is her pivot into building what she could not find – a space created by POC, for POC.

Although she is leading the vision, she knows this work cannot be built alone and is committed to bringing other creatives into the process so the space reflects the breadth of our communities.

Creatives

MIK is gathering a directory of POC creatives for the first phase of our Studio. We’re preparing to pitch three major campaign concepts to national Australian brands in early 2026, and each proposal will centre creatives from within our own community. We’re currently seeking:

  • Film producers, directors and editors

  • Photographers

  • Set stylists

  • Writers, interviewers and editorial storytellers

  • Creative directors

  • Food creatives (chefs, cooks and food stylists)

  • Talent and case studies – cultural families, friends and community groups open to being featured in stories and campaigns

Commissions

We’re commissioning POC creatives to help shape our pre-launch phase and contribute to ongoing work across our website, e-zine and socials. Current commissions include:

  • Portrait studio photography

  • Personal essays

  • Cultural moodboard contributors

  • Instagram Reels and TikTok videos

Features

At MIK, the spotlight belongs to POC cultural storytellers, artists, makers and community builders. We’d love to hear from:

  • Creatives working across multimedia disciplines

  • Community builders who proudly champion their cultural heritage in Australia

  • POC families, friends and cultural groups open to sharing stories of home and belonging
