There’s a new generation of creatives bringing fresh perspectives, big ideas and a willingness to make things happen. Zane Qureshi is one of them. As a photographer working across fashion, editorial and portraiture, he captures identity, nostalgia and self-expression with an eye for colour, mood and the unexpected.

Born in New York with American, Australian, Greek and Pakistani roots, Zane moved to Kaurna Country (Adelaide) as a child. His multicultural upbringing brings a rich mix of cultural influences to his creative outlook. In 2021, he launched FRND Magazine from his teenage bedroom – an independent, POC-run print and digital publication giving emerging Australian creatives a platform and a fresh perspective on the local scene.

His photographic series BOYHOOD, brought to life with close friends, reflects his love of collaborative storytelling. From experimenting with lighting and styling to researching the cultural references behind a shoot, Zane approaches each project with curiosity, drawing on personal experiences and the stories of those around him.

For Zane, photography is as much about the people as the pictures. He loves the conversations, friendships and creative energy along the way. And while his ambitions stretch well beyond his hometown, he’s already helping shape the creative scene around him – one where fresh voices have room to experiment, collaborate and be seen.

Dare we dream

“I’d love to photograph some of my favourite musicians and creatives for major editorial publications. The dream is to travel, collaborate with inspiring people and make a living doing what I love. I’d also love to see more funding and opportunities for emerging creatives in South Australia, where there’s so much talent deserving of a bigger platform.”
